Arch of Felipe V

After the original Puente Nuevo collapsed in 1741 the original Moorish entrance gate to the city was enlarged to accommodate the large number of visitors that would have to use it daily. The arch of Felipe V was the only access point between the old town and new town until the completion of the Puente Nuevo in 1793.
